Women in Computing

The Women in Computing Chapter emerges as an initiative within SCo2 aimed at promoting the participation, visibility, and leadership of women in computing, engineering, and information technology. It seeks to consolidate a space for academic, research, and professional gathering where gender equity, collaborative work, and the development of inclusive communities are fostered. It is inspired by successful experiences such as LAWCC (CLEI), WIT (SBC), and SIILMI (LACCEI).

Objectives

  • Promote participation and leadership of women in computing and related areas, contributing to closing the gender gap.
  • Foster training, research, and technological development led by women in computing.
  • Create mentorship, collaboration, and support networks among women students, professionals, researchers, and educators in the field.
  • Make visible the contributions of women in science and technology through events, panels, and seminars.
  • Promote policies and practices that foster gender equity in academic, research, and industrial environments.
  • Establish cooperation links with international networks and similar chapters in Latin America.
